Elementary EAL Teacher

NIST is looking for an appropriately qualified, effective and connected EAL educator to join our dynamic, high functioning elementary EAL team to provide support in elementary classes. The preferred candidate will have a passion for supporting elementary-age English language learners (ELLs).

Qualifications & Experience
- A teaching qualification (B.Ed. or M.Ed., a requirement in Thailand to obtain a teaching license)
- Further study in English as an additional language (preferred)
- International teaching experience (desirable)
- Experience with the IB PYP (preferred)

Professional Expectations
- Work positively and flexibly with a range of colleagues, demonstrating strong interpersonal skills
- Collaborate and plan within year level teams and homeroom teaching teams, and with single-subject teachers
- Take on a variety of roles, including teacher, co-teacher, student advocate, facilitator and coach
- Demonstrate an understanding of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS)
- Provide in-class support for a range of age classes
- Demonstrate an understanding of the appropriate blend of in-class and focused support for ELLs
- Develop and implement of individualized learning plans in collaboration with colleagues
- Build strong home-school partnerships and facilitate parent meetings
- Assess, communicate and report progress to parents, teachers and students
- Utilize and review teaching strategies as necessary in line with the school’s curriculum and its mission, vision and values
- Take part in and lead school-based professional development, in-service days and activities
- Participate in professional reading and external professional development to extend knowledge and understanding in order to develop practice of self and colleagues
- Demonstrate leadership and build capacity in areas of expertise
- Contribute to the school’s extra-curricular activities programmes
- Complete school duties as defined by the school's leadership for the designated role
- Perform duties in accordance with the NIST Child Safeguarding Code of Conduct and NIST Professional Code of Conduct
