Primary School - Library Media Teacher

To support our Primary School team, we are currently looking for an adaptable and inspiring Library Media Teacher in part-time.

BMS is the oldest international school in the center of Berlin. 1000 students from 55 countries attend our school and are taught using the best international and national curriculum programs. The Berlin Metropolitan School is an all-day school, allowing students from kindergarten through 12th grade to complete a modern and values-based education, culminating into an internationally recognized diploma. Develop a school library media program that addresses 21st century skills, including life and career development, learning and innovation, and information, media, and technology literacy.
Actively promote reading, information literacy skills, and information resource use through activities such as book clubs, reading programs and other special events.
Instruct students and staff in information and technology literacy skills, including e.g. reading for understanding, the research process, engaging inquiry, collaboration, critical thinking.
Coordinate and participate in workshops related to reading, digital literacy and media use.
Evaluate and “produce” information through the active use of a broad range of tools, resources, and information technologies.
Co-teach and co-plan with teachers to integrate Approaches to Learning as part of POI.
Establish policies and procedures for the Library/Media program and regularly evaluate these.
Participate in curriculum planning with the PYP Coordinator, curriculum coordinators and Team Leaders.
Manage the Library blog page and online resources.
Liaise with school leadership and the parent body to support school-wide events, e.g. World Book Day
Organize and manage all administrative tasks in the Library such as scheduling, library database, ordering processes and budget line.

Committed, experienced and well-qualified teacher, who seeks opportunities to extend expertise and looks for improvement to provide a high quality teaching standard.
A Bachelors or Master´s degree in Primary Education with Library specialism or an additional training/certificate in this field.
At least three years of teaching experience.
Proficient in using technology to enrich student learning.
English native-speaker level skills.
A minimum two-year commitment to this position.
