Mandarin Coordinator

The International School of Macao
The International School of Macao (TIS) seeks a strong Mandarin Coordinator to join the leadership team beginning the academic year 2021-22. The Mandarin Coordinator role offers a dynamic leadership position at TIS. The successful candidate must have an international perspective, be able to work collaboratively with colleagues and be up-to-date with their teaching pedagogy.

Duties:

Leading and managing all aspects of Mandarin program and Mandarin department across Pre-K to Grade 12.
Oversee the work of Chinese teachers and maintain a high level of teaching.
Develop enrichment programs to maximize students’ Mandarin learning experience.
Support teachers in the planning, instruction and assessment of children through developmentally appropriate practices.
Ensure resource ordering, scheduling, and event management are organized and managed for the department.
Ensure the smooth day to day operations of the department.
Support professional development of teachers through PD opportunities internally and externally.
Foster positive parent relationships and work as the intermediary contact between teachers and administration.
Promote and develop a positive climate and culture in the department and school.
Contribute to the planning and implementation of curricular and other activities or school events.
Make a positive contribution to the development of the Chinese department and the TIS Macao community.

The successful candidate must have the following professional qualifications and experience:

In alignment with the teacher registration requirement of Macau educational bureau, the successful candidate must have a Bachelor’s degree of Education with a Major in Chinese Language or Literature instruction, or Bachelor of Chinese language and literature, or Teaching Chinese as a Foreign language. (教育、中文或對外漢語專業本科畢業) and be able to speak standard Mandarin, with a Mandarin Speaking certificate (minimum level 2A二級甲等)
Proven track record of outstanding teaching across all age groups and proficiency levels.
Have a good knowledge and experience of curriculum development.
Minimum five years teaching experience in international schools and leadership experience will be beneficial. Experience in teaching IB Diploma Chinese A, Chinese B and/or Mandarin ab initio would be beneficial.
Experience with managing students from K-12 with culturally diverse backgrounds.
Strong commitment to high standards of Chinese programs and inclusive education.
Experience with implementing a range of modern pedagogical instructional approaches and techniques.
Exemplary communication skills in Chinese and English, both spoken and written. High level of interpersonal skills.
Positive attitude and confident in meeting and communicating with others.
Strong time-management skills, organizational skills and work effectively.

Experience with Alberta CTF curriculum is an asset but not required

We are looking for a highly motivated, exemplary practitioner for the position of Secondary School Inclusive Education Teacher. The candidate is both a child advocate and a teacher/staff/parent liaison. The Inclusive Education Teacher supports and contributes to the learning and programming process of individual students where his/her specific expertise is needed. Excellent personal and collaborative skills are required to work within diverse teaching teams.

Duties:
Work within the Inclusive Education Department to develop and implement learning support programs for students from Grade 7-12 with mild to moderate learning difficulties.
Assist student learning, utilising a plan teach, evaluate and feedback cycle.
Create and implement Inclusive Education Planning for students who require additional programming
Work collaboratively with staff to develop programs and strategies to support positive behaviour management.
Develop exemplary relationships with parents, teachers and students
Create equitable learning opportunities for all students
Participate in student, school and community extra-curricular activities

The successful candidate must possess a minimum of a Bachelor of Education with training and/or previous experience in Special Education and Learning Support instruction. Overseas teaching experience is a definite asset.
