YISS offers an education based on the American system leading to a high school diploma. Faculty are required to be approved through the Network of International Christian Schools (NICS) - www.nics.org as well as by YISS. The school offers AP classes and also has a support team for students with special needs. Grades K-12 are offered. Faculty who demonstrate a clear evidence of faith in line with the Protestant tradition will be considered. All faculty are required to sign a Statement of Faith and to supply a pastoral reference.

YISS will pay the Korean individual income taxes for the EMPLOYEE on all compensation listed on the Employee’s annual contract as Salary. (not to include any additional stipends paid throughout the contract year). The EMPLOYEE is responsible for his/her home country tax liabilities.
Accommodation
The school will provide housing for each EMPLOYEE. Housing is selected by YISS and is arranged according to the description below:
1 Bedroom Apartment/Villa – Single Teacher
2 Bedroom Apartment/Villa – Teaching Couple
3 Bedroom Apartment/Villa - Teaching Couple w/Children
YISS will pay housing key monies (deposits), real estate fees, and rent. All utilities (phone, cable, gas, water, electricity, etc...), unit maintenance fees, and other costs are the responsibility of the EMPLOYEE. YISS will provide furnishings for EMPLOYEES’ housing accordingly.

Flights/Transport
YISS provides a one-way economy ticket for the EMPLOYEE and dependents from his/her home of record to Seoul, Korea for the initial YISS employment contract. These tickets will be purchased by YISS in coordination with new staff arriving for New Staff Orientation. Any questions should be directed to the Human Resources Coordinator for confirmation.

After arrival in Korea, the ODH EMPLOYEE will be eligible to receive the annual Airfare Benefit. The Airfare Benefit is 2,000,000 KRW per EMPLOYEE, 1,200,000 KRW for each dependent residing in Korea. Infants born during the school year will be covered at their actual ticket costs for the year and will receive the full dependent supplement the following school year.
Dependent Opportunities
All YISS ODH EMPLOYEE dependents that are in Elementary, Middle, or High School will have a place reserved for them at YISS for the duration of their EMPLOYEE’s tenure at no tuition cost to the EMPLOYEE. The EMPLOYEE is responsible for the cost of uniforms, school supplies, activity fees, and any other incidental expenses.
Medical
International medical insurance premiums are paid 100% by YISS for qualifying EMPLOYEEs and dependents. YISS will give each Employee a stipend in the amount of 500,000 KRW to cover the annual deductible for each employee on staff. Any deductible or co-pay for dependents is the responsibility of the EMPLOYEE. This policy includes a $10,000 life insurance policy for the EMPLOYEE. Dependents over the age of 18 will only be covered if enrolled full-time in a college or university.
Other
Relocation allowance- YISS provides a relocation stipend to the ODH to assist with the costs of moving to South Korea. The relocation stipend is KRW 500,000 per contracted EMPLOYEE that may be used for shipping, extra luggage, and other costs as needed.
Repatriation allowance- YISS provides a repatriation stipend to the ODH to assist with the costs of moving from South Korea. The relocation stipend is KRW 1,500,000 per contracted EMPLOYEE that may be used for shipping, extra luggage, and other costs as needed. EMPLOYEE’s become eligible for the repatriation stipend after 4 years of employment at YISS.
(This benefit is only applicable if the EMPLOYEE notifies YISS of their plans of not returning by the November 16, 2020 notification deadline. (If an EMPLOYEE indicates their intent to return for the following year and later changes their mind after the November 16 deadline they will forfeit their eligibility to receive the repatriation allowance.)

Secondary Media Center Specialist

Objective:

Provide innovative library media and informational instruction in support of the middle school
and high school curriculum by supporting teachers to incorporate the latest information and
technology available. Reports to Chief Academic Officer.

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject area
2. State/provincial school librarian/media specialist certification preferred
3. Previous school library/media specialist experience preferred
4. Proficient technology skills and knowledge of Google Suites and Library Management
Systems (such as Follett Destiny Library Manager) preferred
5. Evidence of continued professional development and lifelong learning
6. Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills

Elementary Korean Teacher

Objective:

A teacher at YISS is expected to demonstrate the quality of teaching and instruction,
assessment and reporting that has been set as the standard for education at YISS. Teachers at
YISS should model professionalism by consistently displaying high standards of preparation
for learning and teaching and student management. An ability to build and maintain positive
relationships with students, parents, and colleagues is an essential quality needed to be
successful at YISS.
