Upper Loop Cohort Leader

The Upper Loop Cohort Leaders are instructional leaders, action researchers and skilled learning designers with a dedicated passion for a progressive secondary education. Cohort Leaders are equipped to lead a cohort team of educators and up to 150 students in the design and delivery of our learning program. They draw on empathy for learners’ needs and are tireless in the pursuit of learner agency and mindful intervention to achieve educational success for each individual. As expert storytellers and narrators of the vision for the school, Cohort Leaders translate the broader Verso vision of Identity, Engagement and Confidence to practical and tangible examples at levels within the school.

VERSO is looking for a Nursery teacher to join the school for its foundational year.
Once you are here you will...

Immerse yourself in the VERSO Vision and develop an understanding of the concept of the school.
Identify partnerships and prepare for opportunities relating to Verso’s 5 learning experiences and their connection with the 3 pillars and 4 mindsets.
Adopt a collective approach to support the growth and needs of all learners at VERSO. This may include regular collaborative meetings with colleagues to discuss individual learner progress.
Engage in ongoing documentation of learning.
Foster an open learning culture including working in flexible shared spaces, adopting co-teaching models, learning in multi-age situations and supporting mentoring relationships within the school, our community and online.
Build and nurture meaningful relationships with learners and their families.

Conference with learners to support them:
— to make decisions about their own learning, including helping identify learning goals
— developing their plans for growth
— track progress and provide feedback
Work in a multi-age environment.
Facilitate learners to become more independent decision makers and foster ownership of their future.

Relevant Experience
A strong believer and advocate for learner agency and the development of a learner centered environment - willing to engage parents as partners
Professional experience in a dynamic and perhaps challenging educational environment, preferably in a change leadership context
A designer’s mindset - evidenced through the application of design thinking
Fluency in working with teams, as well as familiarity with the process of designing, building and launching educational programs
Deep empathy for people demonstrated through cultural competence
The ability to multi-task and work efficiently and effectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
Self-starter who is open, curious, optimistic and passionate about engaging with new challenges
Natural problem solver, with curiosity and passion for continual improvement
