QSI International school of Astana, a non-profit institution that opened in September 2005, offers a high quality education in the English language for students beginning at three years old through secondary school (17 years old). Three out of four QSI Astana students are from other nations. An enrollment of 260 students is projected for the 2017-2018 school year, representing many nationalities, including students from the international, business, and diplomatic communities. QSI International school of Astana is fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (USA). Facility The school operates on a large, new campus and includes office space, 35 classrooms, library, three computer laboratories, art and music rooms, two baskeball court gymnasium, weight room, auditorium, science laboratories, medical office, a full preschool facility, and a cafeteria. The school grounds include a secure, fenced-in playground areas, an outdoor soccer field and track, and twenty-four hour security. Academic Program The academic program uses a Performance-Based approach to learning. This model insures mastery of specific skills and knowledge involving both individual and group instruction. The educational philosophy is founded upon the premises that: 1) All students can succeed. 2) Success breeds success. 3) It is the responsibility of the school to provide the conditions for success. Curriculum The curriculum includes English (reading, grammar, composition, and spelling), Mathematics (basic skills through advanced mathematics), Cultural Studies, Science, Art, Music, Computers, Russian, Spanish, Kazakh Studies, and Physical Education. Intensive English classes are offered to students 6-17 years old that need additional help with English. Computer use is integrated across the curriculum. The school seeks to provide students with an appreciation for the rich culture and history of Kazakhstan and Central Asia. Materials and equipment are up-to-date and of high quality. Class sizes are small, allowing for individual attention in all areas. Advanced Placement (AP) courses are offered in five disciplines for students that are ready for academic challenge.
QSI requires teachers to hold a Bachelor's Degree and Teacher Certification preferably from North America. QSI prefers that the teacher has a minimum of two years teaching experience.
