Secondary School Chinese Teacher

Native Putonghua speaker with strong English communication skills. Degree in Chinese Language and Literature or related field, and capable of teaching Chinese as a First and Second Language. Experience in the International Baccalaureate Diploma and Middle Years Programs is an advantage.

Job Description
Chinese Curriculum Assistant Responsibilities
● Maintain Chinese Language Arts Curriculum site
● Organise the Primary School Chinese book order
● Organise Chinese resources
● Attend Chinese curriculum meetings (several times per year, 3:15 to 4:30 p.m)
Chinese Support Teaching Assistant
● Support and/or lead learning activities such as oral practice, differentiated writing tasks,
guided reading and group projects;
● Provide assistance to students for effective learning, e.g. clarifying instructions,
answering questions, helping with equipment and motivating students;
● Provide individual assistance to any students who may need it, both inside and outside
the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
● Assist teachers with maintaining student records
● Support students with social or behavioral problems
● Provide feedback to teachers regarding the progress of children
● Where qualified, teach classes when the class teacher is unavailable
● Prepare and present displays of student work
● Support teachers by photocopying, making resources, material/classroom organization
and other tasks that support teaching and learning
● Supervise students in classrooms, halls, cafeterias, playgrounds and gymnasiums and
on field trips.
● Translate work relating to teaching and learning as needed
● Undertake other duties from time to time as the Head of Primary requires
Requirements & Preferred Qualifications
● Native Chinese (Putonghua) and strong English speaker
● Understand age specific characteristics of learning as well as those associated with
language learning and acquisition
● Strong oral and written communication skills in both Chinese (Putonghua) and English
● ICT experience: Google Apps for Education, Word, Excel, etc.
● Teaching experience & credential (preferred)
