The Canadian International School of Phnom Penh (CIS) is an internationally accredited school that opened its doors on August 6, 2012 as a preschool and currently offers programming for students from nursery (18 months) to grade 10 for the 2020-2021 school year. We will continue to add grades until we celebrate our first graduating class. CIS uses a Canadian curriculum from the province of Alberta, and is currently a candidate school to offer the IBDP starting in August 2021. The Alberta curriculum is recognized throughout the world and students graduating with a diploma from an Alberta accredited international school have received acceptances from over 200 universities worldwide.
Teachers at CIS are certified teachers. They may be from other internationally accepted educational backgrounds but are predominantly Canadian teachers holding university degrees from certified universities. Teachers for ECE (Nursery through JK) may be hired with Early Years diploma level training and play-based program experience.
Our purpose-built campus on Diamond Island opened in 2016, with the central facility and secondary school sections currently under construction. Eventually at full capacity, 1625 students will enjoy our state of the art education facilities alongside our world recognized curriculum.
