Starting Salary Range
The BMS pay scale as one essential part in value the work of every member of faculty was re-worked with a committee by teachers from all section and senior leaders in 2014.
The BMS pay scale is structured according to years of experience and the program each respective teacher is teaching. BMS created a pay scale and benefit structure which fulfills following criteria:

• A transparent pay scale which is based on the taught programs in the different departments.
• A pay scale structure which values the years of experiences of each staff member in his/her profession without any cap at the stage of entrance.
• A system for a continuous growth of responsibilities mapped out according to the years of experiences as well as a tailored support program for teachers with less practical experiences.
• A regular adjustment of the pay scale according to the inflation rate in Germany.
• Many opportunities for further career steps.
• Support for individual professional and personal growth

Placement information
- The pay scale offers 6 (1-6) vertical steps according to the years of experiences.
- The calculation of experience starts with the completion of a teaching qualification or certification from the county of origin, or country of training. Only experience within the field of teaching will be calculated.
- A year of teaching experience is counted after having completed the entire year of teaching. At BMS, years of experience will be calculated per completion of one academic year.
- Years of maternity leave or sabbatical are not counted as years of experiences.
- Teachers who work across the sections of the school will be placed on the pay scale of the section in which the majority of teaching is taking place.
Taxes
Individuals who are resident in Germany or have their normal place of abode there have full income tax liability. Tax on income from employed work is retained by being deducted at source, i.e. an amount of tax is retained directly by the employer.
