Starting Salary Range
The BMS pay scale as one essential part in value the work of every member of faculty was re-worked with a committee by teachers from all section and senior leaders in 2014.
The BMS pay scale is structured according to years of experience and the program each respective teacher is teaching.
Taxes
Individuals who are resident in Germany or have their normal place of abode there have full income tax liability. The gross salary (and, if applied, also tuition remission for children attending the school) is subject to German income tax. Once you have registered at the town hall, you will receive your tax identity number and classified into a tax group (I-V). The tax rates depend on family status and income level and range. Tax on income from employed work is retained by being deducted at source, i.e. an amount of tax is retained directly by the employer.

Accommodation
BMS offers a housing search service for all staff members who have t o relocate to Berlin.
Flights/Transport
Our transition package includes expenses for travel as well as shipping.
These benefits are valid one way and one time. Expenses for other family members cannot be covered.
Furniture
Furnished flats for rent are available also on flat search websites.
Moving Allowance
BMS will pay a settling in allowance one time fix to every new staff member who is not living in Berlin and need to relocate. Employees are allowed to use this for any private reason linked to their relocation. It is required to be treated like extra income which means it will be taxed.
Dependent Opportunities
Staff members are asked to pay the monthly lunch fee of 70€ for their children. From all other school fees they are exempted. As this counts as a remuneration in kind all staff members have to pay taxes on the school fees.
Medical
Medical insurances can be chosen from a variety of public providers. We have a good contact to one provider who have English speaking staff and a great support team for international staff.

Gemeinsam mit der JAO gGmbH führen wir das freiwillige soziale Jahr an der BMS durch. Die JOA ist dabei unser vertrauensvoller Kooperationspartner, der uns als anerkannter Träger der Kinder- und Jugendhilfe und der Freiwilligendienste jedes Jahr Anwärter für das freiwillige soziale Jahr vermittelt.

Secondary School - Head of Learning Support

To support our Secondary team, we are looking for an adaptable and inspiring Head of Learning Support.

THE EXCITING CHALLENGE
Manage Learning Support (LS) teachers and English as Additional Language (EAL) teachers. Duties include timetabling and provision of support; professional support; monitoring the Learning Support Department’s progress and development.
Identify and share best process within the Learning Support Department.
Manage Individual Learning Plans (ILPs) and contribute to Health Plans, liaising with parents, teachers and students to regularly review and update ILPs.
Support teaching staff in developing differentiated curricular and instruction to accommodate the individual needs of students.
Implement relevant Learning Support programmes, regarding literacy and numeracy development.
For particular focus students, provide one-to-one and/or group support.
In collaboration with the Leadership Team, IGCSE and IB coordinators, manage the documentation and implementation of the Examination Access Arrangements for the 7th – 12th graders.
Evaluate the evidence for Exam Access Arrangements and decide on the appropriate accommodations.
Administer the relevant psychometric and non-psychometric assessments as a part of the referral process.
Generate assessment reports to support external referrals and in class accommodations.
Meet with the Admissions Team to discuss the admissions process when students present with specific learning needs. Conduct and give feedback on placement testing of all new students.
Develop and maintain contact with external specialists.
Provide professional development to staff on topics relevant to Learning Support.

YOUR PROFILE
Committed, experienced and well-qualified team leader, who seeks opportunities to extend expertise and looks for improvement to provide a high quality teaching standard.
Master’s Degree, or higher, preferably in educational administration or special education.
Experience in a leading position and in coordinating or providing oversight of Learning Support Services programs and processes.
Experience in the administration and interpretation of diagnostic tests.

Cross-cultural experience/understanding.
Strong team facilitation and problem solving skills.

PYP Music Teacher (maternity cover)

The role of a Primary School and Early Childhood Music Teacher calls for an adaptable and inspiring Music Teacher starting as soon as possible.
